Paris Kent was born to Phillip Kent Jr. and Tomeka Kent on August 23, 1992 in Houston, Texas. From an early age she immediately showed interest in the performing arts. Paris was involved in Choir, Dance, and Theatre at Carver Magnet high school for applied technology, engineering, and the Arts. She was also a member of the district Honor choir, Aldine Dance Company, and Carver Dance Company under the direction of Sarita Salinas. Throughout school Paris received many honorable mentions for theatre and won many dance competitions in Houston as a junior and senior level competitor. As Paris grew older not only did her experience in her craft grow, but her passion grew also. Paris served as section leader and student director in Choir and received leading roles in the musicals Dreamgirls as Michelle and Sweet Charity as Charity. Paris joined the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company “Met too” pre-professional company in 2008 where she performed curtain warmers for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and Batsheva Dance Company. Among many of Paris’ accomplishments she received a full scholarship to the Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York for the summer of 2008 and the Debbie Allen Dance Academy Summer Intensive in Los Angeles, California for the summer of 2008 and the summer of 2010. There she was able to work with some of the best dancers and choreographers in the world, including Tessandra Chavez, and Ms. Debbie Allen herself. Paris continued her dance education at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas as a Dance Fine Arts major and health minor. Paris worked with many great professors and was selected for many works from different choreographers. She performed in many shows throughout her college career and was on a performance scholarship for all four years. Paris graduated from college with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2014 and danced with Urban Souls Dance Company under the direction of Harrison Guy for one season. Paris was the director of the Alief Elsik Revelliers from Fall 2015 to Spring 2019, under her direction, the Revelliers received many 1st and 2nd place awards and sweepstakes awards. Paris is very happy to start her journey as the Artistic Director of eMOTION Dance Company, and to continue the strong legacy for years to come.
